Apartment Interior Planning: What to Resolve Before the First Wall Is Moved
By Team GENESIS · 2026-05-29
A successful apartment renovation begins with services, storage, movement and daylight before it begins with finishes.
Apartments come with fixed columns, shafts, windows, society rules and existing service positions. Understanding these constraints before planning walls prevents expensive changes later and makes the design more precise.
The first plan should test movement between entry, kitchen, living, bedrooms and utility spaces. It should also locate the storage that daily life requires: shoes, luggage, cleaning equipment, appliances, linen and the objects that do not belong on display.
Electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and lighting coordination should happen alongside the furniture plan. A beautiful ceiling can be compromised by late services, and a kitchen can lose its efficiency when appliance clearances are treated as an afterthought.
Once the plan is reliable, material and colour decisions become more confident. The apartment can then feel transformed without losing the practical logic that makes it work.
